Wellmet Project, Inc.
- Q: Are pets allowed?
- A: Unfortunately, residents are not allowed to bring their pets. The sheer volume of animals that would result would be overwhelming and very problematic. However, each house does have cats and/or dogs that belong to either the house or staff, and all are welcome in sharing their company.
- Q: Am I allowed visitors?
- A: Yes, we strongly encourage residents to maintain and develop relationships with people outside the house.
- Q: How long do I have to stay?
- A: Wellmet requests that people commit to the house for at least 6 months. This is to allow adequate time to connect to others, develop goals, and plan a transition. Wellmet is not a place where people stay for a few weeks. There is a maximum stay of 5 years.
- Q: Can I take overnights? Can I take a vacation?
- A: Yes, residents are allowed 6 overnights a month. They must be taken on the weekend. Two weeks of vacation are allowed each year. They must be taken in one week increments after the resident has been with us for a few months, with the approval of the staff. Vacations may be taken at the house though this is not encouraged; in this case the resident would be excused from all house responsibilities.
- Q: What if I am sick? Do I still have to leave the house in the morning?
- A: The short answer is no, but staff will look at the circumstances. If this is a repeated pattern or it is abused in some way, then staff will not allow the resident to stay at the house. Keep in mind that the house is unsupervised during the day, and oftentimes it is better to get through a difficult day doing your normal activities than to stay at the house.
- Q: Am I allowed to have a car? And what is the parking situation?
- A: Yes, you may have a car. However, an automobile is Cambridge is an added complication to one's life and is probably unnecessary. All homes are accessible to public transportation. The William Street and Powder House Boulevard homes do have driveways, but they are "first come, first served," so you will still need to get a resident parking sticker from the city to assure yourself of on-street parking.
